I'm Chief Technology Officer at Elanco Animal Health, a Fortune 500 animal health company operating in more than a hundred countries. My job sits at the junction of engineering, architecture, and business strategy — most days that means enterprise AI, our hybrid multi-cloud platform, and the developer experience of the teams building on both.
The work I'm most associated with is ElancoGPT, a private, model-agnostic generative AI platform built in 2023 by a team of fewer than six engineers. It's now used by 12,000+ colleagues — about 90% of the workforce — who have built over 4,000 of their own agents on it. It was recognised at the Globee® Awards for Technology and was a finalist at the BTOES Awards for enterprise AI deployment, though the number I'm proudest of is quieter: it runs on about $120K of infrastructure a year.
Before the AI work, I co-led the rebuild of Elanco's global IT estate after the 2018 spinoff from Eli Lilly — cloud-native from scratch across Azure and Google Cloud, with no corporate datacenters left at the end of it. Out of that came the platform engineering practice I still care most about: golden-path Terraform modules, policy as code, and infrastructure provisioning that went from 25 days to 25 minutes.
I started out as a startup engineer — Node.js microservices, React applications, and C++/CUDA work at Spotlight Data, AgentHub, and a few agencies. That period left me with a bias for action and a comfort with ambiguity that I've leaned on ever since.
